City special: Gold Coast

  • Gold Coast, Queensland is a city on the Pacific Coast, in the southern part of Queensland, Australia. It's in the southeast corner of Queensland, to Brisbane's south. The Albert RIver separates Gold Coast from Logan City. Gold Coast is typically known for their long, white beaches, sunny lifestyle and their surfing. 
  • It's Queensland's second biggest city and holds some of Australia's most famous beaches, including Main Beach, Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach, Coolangatta and Mermaid Beach. Gold Coast's coast is 57 km long and they have Australia's largest professional surf lifesaving service
  • To get to Gold Coast from another country you'll have to fly, since Australia's an island. There's plenty of nice hotels that you can stay at. The five-starred hotel Azzura Greens Resort is very popular and if you plan to stay a lot at your hotel it's a really nice hotel to be at. Another five-starred hotel that's really beautiful is Club Watermark. 
  • There's also plenty of cheap hotels, if you plan on eating out a lot or experience the country it could be a good idea to choose a cheaper hotel. Aquarius Backpackers is a great budget-hotel, but still very nice
  • The sight is breath-taking almost wherever you are in Gold Coast. Beautiful beaches, water and incredible buildings. The most popular and best shopping-areas in Gold Coast are Harbour Town, Australia Fair and Robina Town. Typical Australian food is barbequed meat, and concidered as a tradition.
  • The Airport in Gold Coast is called Gold Coast Airport and is the third fastest growing airport in the country. It's in the north part of Gold Coast and it's easy to go in to the city with bus, taxi or pretty much any other vehicle.   • Gold Coast rarely experiences the temperature above 37 °C in summer or below 5 °C in winter.
  • Gold Coast has grown from a small beachside destination to Australia's sixth largest city in fifty years. It's the most popular non-capital city in Australia and it's considered Australia's fastest growing large city.
  • Gold Coast have around 65,000 bed spaces, 57 km of beach, 600 km of canal, 1000 km² nature reserve, 500 restaurants, 5 major theme-parks and 40 golf courses.
